Welcome back students! We hope you all had an excellent summer!

While you were away for the summer, we worked very hard to get some of our houses in tip top condition. Two houses have been completely renovated, and two others are awaiting their renovations.

We would like to invite you to an open house on September 20th from 4-7pm. It will begin at 203 E. Navarre St., and will afford you the opportunity to see the high quality of our homes. Our other houses in the Navarre/Marion neighborhood will also be available for you to take a peek! Free food, shirts, and some other goodies!

This week's featured house is 203 E. Navarre St. It is currently the recipient of a kitchen makeover. We are modernizing the house with a breakfast bar in the kitchen and a more open floor plan for the first floor.

We also launched a fan page on Facebook. You can view interior and exterior pictures of each of our houses, and can link to our website to contact us.

Local Bars and Pubs

If you are looking for something to do in South Bend, you are not alone! Here are some ideas to toss around with your friends or new roommates.

For the bar going crowd, the Backer is a local staple. If you are looking for lots of people, pop music, and a diverse crowd, the Backer or Club Fever may be for you. If you prefer a younger, more laid back bar, Corby's would fit your personality well.

If you enjoy bars, but big crowds are not your thing, you may want to try Madison Oyster Bar, with three floors, everyone can find what they are looking for at this bar. Fiddler's Hearth features live Irish music on Mondays and acoustic open mic on Wednesdays. They also have bands playing almost every night of the week, and you don't need to be 21!! They close early, but after the band finishes, you can head over to the Oyster Bar, which is right next door.

For the music lovers, two South Bend bars stand above the rest. Our favorite bar, Simeri's Old Town Tap is unlike anything you have experienced. This bar has a very loyal following and is the premier live music venue in the area. They feature a diverse menu, but their specialties are the Hungarian Goulash and the Turkey Sandwich on Pretzel Bread. Come out on a Wednesday to catch Acoustic Night sponsered by Miller Lite on the patio. This bar is the most special in the summer, spring, and fall, but they still have bands inside the bar in the winter. Club Landing draws the most diverse crowd in town, and has live music or DJs almost every night.

Quantity vs. Quality

It proves to be harder and harder to find a place to live next to the Notre Dame campus. Many times, students or staff will settle for a house that is not in their price range or one that is run down and has no A/C. This is frustrating to anyone that rents a house.

At Anderson ND Rentals, we ask our students what they would like in a house, and we make as many of their suggestions a reality as humanly possible. This year, we are renovating all of our houses, many of them will have refinished floors and/or new carpet, and fresh paint throughout. We always try to complete a few major improvements every year. Currently, our house at 333 N. Hill St. is in the process of a bathroom and kitchen renovation. Your house may be next!

For over 20 years, we have chosen quality over quantity because it afords us the time to make sure every house is in good condition. We strive to make your senior year the most memorable of all! Remember to wear those andersonNDrentals T-shirts to tailgating for a chance to win some cash!

We have a couple homes available for the 09-10 school year, and the 10-11 school year, but we are receiving calls regularly so contact us today for the best houses!

The South Bend/Notre Dame area offers a wide variety of restaurants to meet your individual needs.

Local favorite, Rocco's Pizza is perfect for going out with the guys, taking your family out for dinner, or taking a special lady out for a nice, moderately priced meal.

Another restaurant/bar that is rich in Irish tradition is Fiddler's Hearth. Stop by for authentic Irish music from local groups or drop in on a Wednesday to see some up and coming talent through an acoustic open mic session.

Legends of Notre Dame is a museum of Notre Dame memrobilia. If you are looking for the quintessential Notre Dame Dining Experience, Legends is the place for you.

Many of the local restaurants and bars are within walking distance from our ND, Saint Mary's, and Holy Cross student houses.
